It is strange how some people do not like to travel too far from home on their vacation while others like to travel as far as possible. No matter what your interest is with travel, there are always travel sites to help you out. In fact, many people have turned to planning entire vacations on a website. Gone are the days when travel agents were popular and sought after as websites have popped up everywhere and promise all of their customer’s extraordinary savings.

Although I am not one to put my complete trust in these sites and still like to visit my travel agent. I’m old-fashioned and still want to sit down with a travel agent, letting them make my plans for me and I always feel like I will get better results than on a website. I find it difficult explaining what I am looking for to a machine whereas it is easier to ask for details from a travel agent. The more maddening problem with travel sites arranged vacation is when there is a complaint about some aspect of it; this is the part that lets the whole system down as talking to a human being is not easy, and if you do actually manage to speak to someone, do have any idea where they are?

If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? With a travel agent they are real and I can always go back to them and clarify points especially if something goes wrong. Whereas a good friend of mine only ever books her vacations online and always those advertised at the last minute; probably from cancellations. When last minute vacations come up, you can end up saving a lot of money and she’s gotten some wonderful vacations for almost half the cost.

I wish I could do this but my work just wouldn’t allow me to suddenly take time of as they normally need a couple of months notice. If you are flexible though, booking through a travel site could be incredibly worthwhile plus, travel sites offer discount coupons and prices for excursions or miscellaneous items when you book online. Although I actually spend time with my travel agent, I do actually carry out a great deal of research on prospective locations before I make up my mind. I know it may seem unkind after all the help that my travel agent has given me but I know that if I have problems that need correcting when I return, it is easy to go along and see her to have sorted out.
